Communities all over are building skateparks that capture national attention, some municipalities entering friendly "skatepark rivalries" as each seek to one-up the other. These parks attract people from the immediate area and beyond, even internationally, appear on the covers of magazines, appear in video and other popular media, and receive the acclaim of seasoned skateboarders. But what do these parks, almost always located in tiny communities, have in common?
